Master fairway-bunker shots

The fundamental key to playing from a fairway bunker is to not hit it fat.

You have to hit the ball on the downswing and not take any sand before the ball. To make sure you have a downward attack, put a little more weight on your left foot. You want to stay still in the sand, so you dig your feet in about an inch.

When you dig in you are, in effect, a shorter person. Therefore, you must grip down and an inch or so to make sure you can fully extend your arms through impact.
