One of the biggest problems for amateurs hitting from greenside bunkers is that they straighten their legs in the downswing in an effort to lift the ball up onto the green. Standing up almost always leads to hitting a fat or thin shot. If you keep considerable flex in your knees, you’ll be more consistent in the bunkers. One way to make sure you stay flexed is to grip down on your wedge, so the thumb and forefinger of your right hand is touching the metal. Once you’ve gripped down, nothing else changes. Make your normal bunker swing, the club skimming through the sand and under the ball.
