Improving one’s bunker technique requires an investment in practice time. However, it is vitally important that you put the ball in a good lie each time or your practicing can actually hurt your game!

Where golfers often run into a practicing mistake is when they put the next ball into the same position of their last shot. This ball is now in a “bad” lie — where the equator of the ball is below the sand level. To compensate, adjustments are then made in your swing and your bunker technique is hampered (not to mention your confidence).

So, always double check that the ball in a good lie, where the equator is above the sand level. Starting with a good lie will truly improve your technique and help you achieve better results.
