Maximize your distance off the tee

Are you looking to get more distance off the tee? As a golfer, one of your best opportunities to reduce your score and pick up extra yardage is from the tee. However, many golfers worry about or struggle with their tee shots. There are some simple tips you can do to help you improve your distance off the tee. Here are some things to keep in mind, one golfer to another:

Create a solid tee-shot routine- What you do and what you are thinking when you approach the tee is important to your game. When you develop a solid tee-shot routine, you don’t have to over-think it when you step up there. Create a routine and then do it the same every time you step up to the tee box.

Adjust your weight- At address, try to place 60-70% of your weight on your right foot. Make your stance slightly wider than your shoulders and have your toes pointed just slightly outward. This probably isn’t a huge change on your typical stance but the small difference can have a big result.

Tee up high- You can tee the ball high and move it more forward by our front toe to help you catch it up the upswing. Use a stronger grip than you normally would with your hands turned back toward your back shoulder. Use a wide arc and shoot for max extension by stretching your arms outward on your swing.

Don’t lift your left foot– Avoid lifting your left foot on the backswing and you will keep your lower body solid on the backswing. This will help you get more distance from the shot.

Swing fast; not hard- It’s important that you complete all the steps of a smooth, fluid swing quickly but not hard. You want the swinging motion to be smooth with a solid contact with the ball; not whip it around fast and bang into the ball.

With these tips combined, you can create a smooth tee box routine that will help you get the most distance off the tee. Practice it on the range again and again until you are comfortable and you see yourself getting more distance from it. Happy golfing!
