Master the downhill putts

Downhill putts can be the key to scoring. Try these four quick tips:

1) Get the speed before you play. Green speeds change each day. You always stroke a few downhill putts on the practice green to get a sense of how delicate you should be.

2) Check your ball position. To help reduce skid, play the ball slightly forward of center.

3) Focus on the line. It’s really important on downhill putts. For the most part you just have to get the ball rolling on that line, and gravity will do the rest.

4) One foot, max. Missing’s never good. But it’s all about speed. If you miss, make sure it’s a short comebacker.
