Imagine easy par 3s

If you examine the scorecards of your closest efforts to break 80 (or 90, wherever you fall), you’ll probably notice the par 3s were particularly unkind.

The one-shotters, with their well-guarded, generally smaller greens, are where dreams of shooting your personal best go to die.

How do you handle them better next time? Stop focusing on the flagstick. Develop a mental radar that draws your eyes to the largest, easiest landing area on the green.

The idea? Give yourself a margin for error. Another great scoring strategy is turning the par 5s into simple par 3s. If you lay up to your favorite wedge yardage, the par 5s effectively become short par 3s. Pars will seem easy, and you’ll make a few birdies along the way
