In matchplay it’s important to gain a psychological edge early on by whatever means possible!

You’ve had a lot of things done to you over the years during your amateur days that really got on your nerves, so you guess they were successful. For example, if your opponent hits a bad shot off the tee and you are standing next to him you could point to the right or perhaps tell him he’d better hit a provisional.
