Don’t reach for the ball

You cannot stand too close to the ball. Amateurs tend to stand so far from it at address that they have to reach for it.

Gripping the club and extending their arms stiffly leads to tension in their shoulders and an out-to-in swing path that promotes a slice.

The distance you stand from the ball will change automatically depending on the length of the club. The longer the club you’re holding, the farther you’ll stand from the ball.
