The goal with an iron in your hand is to apply a downward blow on the ball, compressing the ball into the turf allowing the natural loft on the club to work.

Often, amateur golfers have a tendency to back away from the target in the downswing, resulting in the clubhead working upwards as it strikes the ball.

Try the downswing feeling and you’ll soon start hitting your irons longer and straighter than ever before.
