Chipping with a hybrid club is an excellent option around the green. It is always best when going for the hole to let the ball stay on the ground as much as possible. A hybrid allows you to clear the fringe or longer grass and still achieve the distance out of the roll to have a chance to sink the shot. Traditional chipping clubs may keep the ball in the air too long and it is difficult too hit the shot forcefully enough with a putter.
Setup
Play the ball back in your stance when chipping with a hybrid club. Set up with your weight forward and your stance narrow (inside of shoulder width).
Backswing
Use a stroke similar to your putting motion. Keep your body still and let your shoulder and arms swing like a pendulum. Hinge your wrists slightly to increase feel and force. Do not shift your weight.
Through Swing
Repeat the pendulum motion forward, keeping your weight forward. Unhinge your wrist as you come to the bottom of the stroke and follow through the same distance as you went back with your back swing. Practicing this will help you get repeatable distance from an even-tempo swing, varying that distance by varying the length of the stroke.
Contact
Accelerate through the shot. With traditional chipping clubs, short shots are often stabbed at without a full follow through. The weight of the hybrid will allow you to make a smooth swing like a putt and still lift the ball. Think of letting the ball get in the way of the club rather than hitting at the ball.
