Here is a tip on one of the hardest shots in golf – the 50 or 60 yard bunker shot. The best advice is do not get into this position, but in case you do you have to know how to get out.
You can take your sand wedge, blast it out and obviously come up short of your target. At least you would be out of the trap. But if you want to try to reach your target and get it all the way there you want to use a different club. You can use a pitching wedge or even an 8-iron and hit it just like a sand shot. Lay the clubface down open, put the ball forward in your stance, aim to left, and You are going to blast the ball out with an explosion shot with your 8-iron. The ball is forward in your stance, clubface open, aim to the left.
It is a difficult shot, but with an 8-iron opened up to play like a sand wedge you can get the ball all the way to the pin.
