On chip shots, most amateurs have been told to lean toward the target at address and maintain that position through impact.
The goal is ball-first contact, but the move delofts the club too much. Instead, think about your spine leaning away from the target as you swing through. Check out your impact position here. The yellow stick highlights the clubshaft (leaning toward the target) and the orange one indicates the position of yuor spine (leaning away). Notice how the two sticks converge and create an X? Next time you chip, focus on making your own X. This allows the back edge of the clubhead (the bounce) to ride along the turf for crisp contact without getting stuck.
Bounce equals forgiveness.
