The grip is the most important aspect of your golf swing. It is at this point that club and your body become one. A good grip will dramatically increase your chances for the perfect swing.
Often players with higher handicaps hold the club too tightly in the palms for fear of losing their grip during the swing. This naturally creates tension in the forearms, the shoulders and wrists during the swing … a surefire way to inhibit good shots.
So, how’s your grip? Hold your club at the shaft — not the actual grip. This, almost automatically, allows you to hold the club correctly due to the shaft diameter being smaller than that of the grip. Hold the club in the fingers of your right hand and in the lower part of your left palm. Now, recreate this grip — on the grip.
A good grip will decrease this tension in your arms and allow your wrists to move freely. Now, you will be hitting some great shots in no time!
