What are the fundamentals of a good golf swing? As a golf instructor, I help my students remember these fundamentals with an acronym that as a golfer can be very easy to remember … just think P.G.A.

“P” for posture; “G” for grip and “A” for alignment.

Your posture will affect the swing path and swing plane of your golf club. Improper posture makes it extremely difficult to start the swing on line and to swing the club up on the proper angle during the backswing.

Your grip allows you to control the clubface position throughout your swing. A bad grip typically equates to a bad swing.

Your alignment of your feet is critical. The imaginary line across your toes must run parrallel to the target line. Otherwise, the swing won’t travel along the target line and the ball won’t travel towards the target.
